Quarry Hill 2005 Shiraz

Quarry Hill 2005 Shiraz

This is our aged release of the 2005 vintage which produced a good crop of high quality Shiraz fruit. This Shiraz has classic cool climate peppery aromas, dried herb, blackcurrant and some creamy oak. Medium bodied, with slightly gamy characters on dark fruit with tannins that fill the mouth, it is smooth with a long finish. Good food matches include roasts and grills. 14% alc.

Quarry Hill 2008 Shiraz

2008 was a great year for Shiraz in the Canberra District, producing grapes with ripe flavours and excellent natural acids at lower alcohol levels. The wine, aged in a mix of new and older French oak, is a bright purple in the glass. It smells of raspberry, plum, spice and a little pepper. Through the palate, there are flavours of mulberry and plum, fine tannins (helped by using some whole bunches in the ferment) and a crisp, dry finish. A good match with steak, kangaroo or game birds. Winemaker: Alex McKay. 13.5% alc.

Quarry Hill 2006 Pinot Noir

5% whole bunches were used in the ferment, with gentle egg fining to preserve the subtle finish. The Pinot Noir has aromas of mixed spice, plum and cherry fruit and foresty, minty overtones. The palate shows fresh spicy red plums and red berries, with some sweet oak. Bright acids complement the fruit characters, and it flows along well with a good finish. It works well with a wide variety of foods. 13.8% alc.

Quarry Hill 2009 Sauvignon Blanc

The 2009 growing season was the coolest in many years with consistent but not excessive rainfall through the season – ideal for the production of quality white wines. This wine balances crisp acidity with fruit flavours of pineapple, passionfruit and citrus. Can be enjoyed on its own or with a variety of foods, especially seafood, Asian and chicken dishes. Winemaker: Alex McKay. 12.5% alc.

Quarry Hill 2007 Pinot Noir Rosé

Grapes for the rosé were harvested early, separate from those for the table Pinot, to produce a wine that is crisp, fresh and lower in alcohol. The crimson colour is bright, and the palate shows strawberry and cherry. A light summer wine that’s great with food such as barbeque and Asian dishes. 12% alc.
