2016 Two Places Pinot Gris

This Pinot Gris is based on superb fruit from the Tumbarumba wine region in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains - the higher rainfall, cooler temperatures and more sympathetic soil profile make it an excellent location for growing this variety.

However the distinctive light copper-pink colour, and the name - Two Places - gives a hint that this wine has a little bit more going on. We've blended in Grenache from our own vineyard - it was a particularly light vintage, with similarly light, spicy notes of raspberry and strawberry. After trying a number of different blends, we found 6% Grenache rounded off the steeliness of the Pinot Gris, giving it a gentler front palate, while still retaining the characteristics of the variety.

The nose exhibits bright notes of honeysuckle, apple, pear and a little spice, with a long smooth palate of nashi pear and red apple.

Chris Shanahan from the Canberra Times wrote:

"A fresh, zesty, light pink dry wine. The savoury palate offers a subtle pear-like flavour, with a dry, gentle grip and warm aftertaste."

Drink to 2020. Winemaker: Alex McKay. 13.1% alc.
