2018 Canberra District Shiraz

This 2018 vintage is 97%% "Best's Block" Shiraz clone from our West Block with 3% Viognier. The nose nose shows dark pepper, dark fruits and spice. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and balanced acidity.

We think this wine is a great reflection of the unique terrain of our vineyard, our viticultural approach, and the distinctive Canberra style of cool climate Shiraz.

Drink to 2030. Winemaker: Alex McKay. 13.2% alc.

Reviews

It’s an elegant, succulent wine with garden herb, twig and spice notes threaded through red berried fruit. Grenache-like in a way, which isn’t a bad thing, especially in a modern context. There’s a finesse to the tannin, a gentle meatiness, modest florals, and good overall balance.

Campbell Mattinson - Winefront

A smoky-meaty-reductive nose, but the dark fruit and whorl of spices especially pepper pops through. It's not a big wine, but it packs lots of flavour across the medium-bodied palate. Some oomph to the tannins and no shortage of acidity right behind.
